Day 4 | Ushuaia Gable Island & Penguin Colony with Canoeing

Gable Island & Penguin colony with Canoas

Departing from Ushuaia, we head east along National Route No3 and then onto Route “J”. Upon reaching Lasiphashaj River, preparations begin for canoeing on inflatable canoes along the river and Beagle Channel. Participants will be provided with rubber boots, over-pants, and life jackets for paddling downstream and into the sea.

After the canoeing adventure, we’ll reach Estancia Harberton where we’ll board a motorboat bound for Martillo Island. From the boat, we’ll have the opportunity to observe penguins in their breeding habitat. The motorboat then continues to the day’s main attraction: the vast Gable Island, where a delightful lunch awaits with fine Patagonian wine, soft drinks, and mineral water.

Following a relaxing coffee break, we embark on a walk to explore this magnificent island. Along the way, we’ll encounter remnants left behind by the Yámana civilization and early settlers. After about two hours of walking, we return to Puerto Harberton by zodiac and then take the bus back to Ushuaia.

Trekking Laguna Esmeralda

Esmeralda Lagoon is an active, hiking tour for those who enjoy walking and being outdoors in contact with Nature. It is also a great opportunity to see the wonderful color of Laguna Esmeralda, and the evening colors of the mountains. The difficulty of the hiking activity is given mostly by the type of terrain, and not so much by the presence of steep slopes. In fact, the inclination of the trail is very smooth until you get closer to the lagoon, where it becomes a bit more demanding for a short distance. This walk will take us through a forest and then through a peat bog, which can be very wet. Only if the guide considers it necessary, he or she will offer you rain boots (Wellies) to ford some swampy areas. In any case, we recommend wearing the adequate footwear for this tour. The emerald green waters blend with the copper red peat bogs, and also with the ocher, green and brown of the mountains that enclose it, while the white of the glacier creates a visual feast of a chromatic amplitude difficult to find in many other areas around the world.

During the return walk, we will continue exploring the forest crossed by rivers and streams, before enjoying an ideal dinner: snacks, and lentil stew with a nice Patagonian red wine in a charming cabin overlooking the Tierra Mayor valley.

At the glacier’s edge, groups of up to 20 people will be formed, equipped with crampons and gloves. After a safety briefing, embark on a moderate 1.5-hour ice trek led by guides. Explore glacier features like crevasses and lagoons.

Return to the refuge via a forest walkway, then board a boat back to the port. Travel by land to the walkways (approximately 7 km) for glacier views from the main balcony or self-guided trails. The tour concludes with a return to El Calafate.

Argentina | Falls in Love

This amazing 8-Day riding tour will take you to the hilly landscape of Colinas de Garzon, the amazing coast of the Atlantic Ocean and charming countryside trails on company of some of the best horses you will ever meet! Uruguay is a small friendly country of experiences, a country to enjoy the simple things of life (which sometimes turn out to be the greatest!)… You can relax and enjoy things like good fresh food cultivated by locals, a cooking class with a worldwide famous local chef who will received you at his home, fine good wines made by passionate owners, virgin beaches visited by everyone (which really means “not many”), and music from the heart like Tango and Candombe. In the native traditions that existed in our lands before the arrival of the Spaniards, the horse was a symbol of power, endurance and freedom. In those cultures, the horse signified loyalty, love and the unwavering faith of the warrior spirit that understands the power achieved through true cooperation. We invite you to get to know our horses and learn how to bond with them through communication. Horses are an integral part of nature, and its passage doesn’t disturb the environment around us, enabling us to enter natural reserves, forests and beaches without disturbing the animals living in these areas.
