WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

Argentina & Chile Patagonia

Day 1 | Welcome To Argentina

Your private guide will be at Ezeiza International Airport ready to give you a kind welcome to Buenos Aires, helping you to familiarize with Argentina and answering any question you might have about your trip plan.

After a private ride of one hour approximately, you will be arriving at the selected hotel.

Check in and have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city on your own.

Overnight: Park Hyatt Buenos Aires Hotel

Day 2 | Bike Around Buenos Aires

Enjoy the best of the city biking the streets of the city with a private guide.

A tour that you cannot miss if you really want to discover all of Buenos Aires in one day!

After a brief historical explanation, we point our wheels south, pedaling through the oldest “barrio” of Buenos Aires: San Telmo, the historic city center.

Our first stop of interest is in Lezama Park where we introduce the first settlement of Buenos Aires and how immigration shaped the city culturally, structurally, demographically, etc.

Ready to ride again, we move further south towards La Bombonera – the Boca Jr soccer team’s stadium.
Eager to explore more, we dive deeper into the city’s Art District of La Boca visiting the famous “caminito.” Surrounded by music, colorful “conventillos” and tango dancers, we discuss precisely why this once busy port turned into the current day “postcard” of Buenos Aires.

Back on our bikes, we cruise towards Puerto Madero, a huge port project that we started in the end of the XIX century yet became obsolete.

After almost 80 years of abandonment, it was redeveloped into the most modern and sophisticated district of Buenos Aires.

We stop for lunch at a typical “parrilla” to refuel and appreciate the art form that is “Asado Argentino” (BBQ). Veggie options available in advance.

Riding around this neighborhood we enter a really particular park:” La Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur.”

This protected ecological reservation has a very peculiar story to tell and is a wonderful escape from the busy “Porteño” life. *Closed on Mondays and muddy conditions*

Prepared to escape the bubble of Puerto Madero, we start heading north to the transportation hub of Retiro where we’ll get a glimpse as to how one travels about the country.
Get a closer look at the English Tower – a monumental clock tower gifted by the English residents of the city commemorating the country’s 100 years of independence.

Venturing even further north, we ride then to Recoleta, the aristocratic neighborhood of Buenos Aires where we step inside the Recoleta Cemetery, an extravagant display of mausoleums with the most important personalities of our history resting there.

Resetting our direction south, we make our way to our last stop of the day located in the very heart of Buenos Aires – Plaza de Mayo.

There, our story concludes as we’ll be able to feel the rich Argentinean history and get an understanding as to why this very spot is, and has always been, the focus point for many public demonstrations.

  • 7 hours’ tour.
  • Bike, helmet & lunch included.
  • Transfer to the bike office meeting point is NOT included.

Overnight: Park Hyatt Buenos Aires Hotel

After breakfast, embark on a classic, spectacular, and unforgettable trek spanning 8-9 hours that takes you to impressive scenery and through forests, until you arrive at the mystical Mount Fitz Roy.

Take in the lagoons in different shades of blue, imposing glaciers, and campgrounds visited by famous international climbers.

This trek starts with a transfer to the trailhead at El Pilar, located 10.5 miles to the north of the town. The journey is enjoyable for the lovely views of the valley, alone.

Start walking in a dense forest of lengas that protect you from the winds coming off the Continental Ice Field.

From the start, you are able to spot lots of different glaciers, including Marconi, Eléctrico, Cagliero, and in the distance, toward Lago del Desierto, the Vespignani Glacier.

The path is easy, as it’s quite flat, and the climbs are gentle.

Arrive at your first viewpoint, Piedras Blancas Glacier, and a bit later, leave the forest and enter a clearing where you can see several peaks in all their splendor—Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Mermoz, Guillaumet, and Fitz Roy.

From here, continue for a few more minutes until you arrive at the Poincenot campground, located in beautiful lenga forest inhabited by countless varieties of birds, which will entertain you with their songs until you reach the campground Río Blanco.

Then, climb 1,300 feet in about an hour until you reach Laguna de los Tres. Upon arriving at the highest point on the path, you are rewarded with majestic views of Fitz Roy, the Glacier de los Tres, and its stunning lagoon. From here, circle Laguna de los Tres and head toward the viewpoint of the Laguna Sucia and its accompanying glacier.

After a rest, start the descent and walk back to El Chaltén. On the way back, take note of the varying landscape, crystal-clear streams, and Laguna Capri—a favorite spot for photographers. After visiting the lagoon, drop down into the valley where El Chaltén is located.

When we arrive the guide will organize the order of the day – depending on the weather conditions you may first kayak and then have free time for exploring, or the other way round.
The guide provides us with waterproof suits and will give basic instructions in how to kayak and other details to bear in mind.

When we are out on the water we’ll be able to enjoy great views of the mountains surrounding us, their lenga forests and hanging glaciers.

After a while, we’ll have a short break and enjoy a snack.

In the free time at the lake you’ll be able to go for a self-guided walk, there are various options.
You could walk along the eastern and western shores of the lake (if you dare to cross over the hanging bridge!), or you could visit the Huemul glacier (this second option is a hanging glacier in private land – if you decide to do this you would have to pay an entrance fee).

Day 9 | Petrified Forest To El Calafate

Come along with us to discover the wonderful world of petrified forests and gigantic dinosaurs that inhabited this area millions of years ago!

This excursion, which takes us on a journey through a fantasy landscape, takes places on an estancia (ranch) half way between El Calafate and El Chaltén, just off a section of the mythical Route 40.

It allows you to spend a day on the Patagonian steppe and is designed especially for those who enjoy being in contact with nature and want to experience unique places.

During this journey we travel around the edge of the gigantic Lake Argentino, with views of the hues of ochre across the immense Patagonian Steppe, with imposing Mount Fitz Roy as a backdrop. We make a stop for about 15 minutes at Hotel La Leona (historical site).

From here, we take a dirt track, as far as the slopes of Mount Los Hornos (Estancia Santa Teresita), where we arrive at the palaeontological site.

The next part of the tour takes us on foot into a deep depression in the ground, where 70 million year old petrified tree trunks can be found and from where we begin our adventure among the fossils.

During the walk it is possible to see an infinite number of petrified tree trunks lying on the surface, some with diameters of up to 1.20 m, bearing witness to times gone by when the climate was very different and supported abundant large-scale flora.
